Breast Thermography with April Peters
Intro:
Breast thermography is a safe, non-invasive way to monitor breast health using infrared imaging. At Body In Focus Thermography, our Breast Study Plus package gives you a detailed picture of temperature patterns across your breast, dental, thyroid, and lymphatic regions — helping you and your healthcare provider stay proactive about your health.
What Breast Thermography Measures?
Breast thermography captures infrared images that reveal heat and vascular patterns across the breast tissue. These patterns can reflect inflammation, circulation changes, and physiological activity in the area — information that may highlight regions worth monitoring or discussing further with your physician. Unlike imaging methods that look at structure, thermography looks at function: how your body's temperature and blood flow patterns are behaving right now.
What It Does Not Diagnose?
Thermography is not a diagnostic test. It does not detect, rule out, or confirm the presence or absence of cancer or any other medical condition. It is a screening and monitoring tool intended to be used alongside, not in place of, standard medical care and imaging.
What the $250 Breast Study Plus Includes:
For $250, the Breast Study Plus captures 19 thermal images covering the breasts, dental region, thyroid, upper back, underarms, lymph nodes, and a full torso/back view. This broader view matters because breast health connects to lymphatic and thyroid function — capturing the surrounding regions gives your interpreting physician more complete context than breast images alone.
Who Interprets Your Images?
Every set of images is reviewed by an independent, board-certified interpreting physician — not by April herself. April's role is the technical capture of high-resolution thermal images; the clinical interpretation and written report come from a qualified medical professional trained specifically in thermographic analysis. This separation between imaging and interpretation is a standard, important part of how clinical thermography works.
How Long Do the Reports Take?
You can typically expect your written report within about one week of your session.
Is a Follow-Up Study Recommended?
Many clients begin with an initial baseline study, followed by a 3–6 month comparison study to establish a clear pattern over time. After that, imaging every 6–12 months is generally recommended to track any changes. Your specific follow-up schedule will depend on what your interpreting physician recommends based on your results.
How to Prepare?
A few simple steps help ensure accurate results: avoid lotions, deodorants, or powders on the areas being imaged, skip sunbathing or tanning beds for 24 hours prior, and avoid vigorous exercise or hot baths immediately before your appointment. You can read the full preparation guide here.

Why Thermography Is Not a Replacement for Mammography
Thermography and mammography measure two different things. Mammography looks at breast tissue structure to identify masses or calcifications. Thermography looks at function; heat and vascular patterns that may indicate areas of physiological change. Because they measure different things, thermography is best used as a complement to, not a substitute for, mammography and any imaging your physician recommends. If you have a family history, symptoms, or concerns, always follow your physician's guidance on standard diagnostic screening.
